Kardokus Residence

URBANADD collaborated with the Kardokus family on this new residence atop the Seattle neighborhood of Magnolia. Charged with creating a contemporary rendition of a Prairie Style home, UA integrated deep roof overhangs and horizontal banding with contemporary massing and a Pacific Northwest material palette. The design frames stunning views of Elliott Bay from the major living spaces, and a central “core” clad in Shou Sugi Ban (charred fir reclaimed from the previous second floor framing) supports the cantilevered stair and organizes the interior spaces on all three floors.
